桂东伟，男，理学博士，1977年生，新疆人、祖籍河南确山县。

2007年7月，在新疆大学获得硕士学位；
2010年6月，在中国科学院新疆生态与地理研究所获博士学位；
工作经历：
2010年7月至2010年11月，中国科学院新疆生态与地理研究所助理研究员
2010年12月至2017年10月，中国科学院新疆生态与地理研究所副研究员
2011年9月至2013年12月，美国访问学者
2016年11月至2017年11月，中组部第17批博士服务团，挂职塔里木河流域干流管理局副局长
2017年12月至今，中国科学院新疆生态与地理研究所研究员
